Independent Journalist Association RS (NUN RS)

Banjaluka, 22 August, 1997 (AIM) - NUN RS asked RS Government today for urgent dismissing of present RS Minister of Information, Director and Editing Collegium SRT, strongly accusing editing policy of state media in RS in which actual RS situation and political events have been described as: "Plan on Serb destruction", "international plot", "domestic quislings and international institutions", or, where OUN, SFOR and IPTF are proclaimed as "occupiers", "killers". All this presents "the blackest political propaganda, which knocked down all rules of journalist's professional ethics!"

As a top example of primitivism and bad taste, NUN RS present a spot at SRT which recent events in Banjaluka brings into the same context with occupation in Second World War, and strongly offend representatives of SFOR and IPTF, but also, RS President's personality.

"Openly taking the side, reconstructing itself into a Propaganda Service of a political group overgrown in crime and lawlessness. State media directly opposed Art. 26 RS Constitution ("..it is constitutional obligation to inform public on time, correctly and truthfully"). Because of such broadcasting, the World experiences RS as Dictatorship state, and Serb as a tribe without elementary democracy", stays in NUN RS announcement.

If this announcement is ignored, NUN RS stated that they might ask the Office of the High Representative B&H to suspend SRT channel in accordance to Sintra Decisions.(End)
