First pension, than wages for Government

Joint List '97

Sarajevo, 15 August, 1997 (AIM) - "At the territory controlled by B&H Army there are 194.000 pensioners, receiving approximately DEM 98,69 per person/per month. Actual Government has to start applying Law on pension-invalids found (PIF). Certain Ministers are deciding which firms can be freed of payment for PIF Found. Such decisions are directly in opposition with pensioner and invalids rights. For example, 3.000 persons engaged in private business, are freed of that obligate payment, and out of 1.500 taxi owners, only 300 are paying it", was stated today, at Joint List'97 press conference, which was headed by Mr. Stjepan Kljujic, President Republic Party B&H.

Today, State owns each pensioner DEM 1.400, which means at the end of year about DEM 400 Mill. Joint List thinks that B&H Government should ask international community for PIF aid, but also to stop negotiations with IMF and World Bank which are insisting that B&H cut the rights to pensioners.

"If they are people's Government, as they represent themselves, than let them pay pensioners first, and than the administration", concluded Mr. Kljujic.(End)
