Theater life in Sarajevo

Sarajevo, 08 August, 1997 (AIM) - Sarajevo got the first private theatre. Unpleased with the existing state in theaters, above all his own - National Theater, scene director Mr. Sulejman Kupusovic decided to found his own theater.

"Ars Mundi" is the name of the new theater which will work in the former premises of CDA Mladost in Mejtaþ. The building is being filled with symbols of SDA, while Mr. Kupusovic intends to stage only comedies in his theater house.

The reaction of the first man of the National Theater, Mr. Muhamed Karamehmedoviå, who was appointed to this position without any application procedure by the Commission for Culture of SDA, is not known. It is well known that Mr. Kupusovic, after his return from Turkey and after being relieved from of his position as the director of Drama in National Theater, was never able to find common ground with Mr. Karamehmedovic. In any case, there will be a lot of laughter in the new theater, but who is to laugh last, remains to bee seen.(end)
