Union of expatriated people of Jajce in Sarajevo

Sarajevo, 04 August, 1997(AIM)- After the expatriation of Bosniak returnees to villages around Jajce was done by Croats authorities, the Union announced the statement in connection to this scenario which was carried out smoothly and similar to some previous ones. "These incidents and barbarism are carried out on weekends, when the attention of international authorities is somewhat diminished since all officials in charge are off duty. Furthermore, it is misrepresented as spontaneous peoples' movement", is stated in the announcement and continues as follows: " We conclude that the international forces did not protect Bosniaks
although these forces have huge amount of means for protection at their disposal. Bosniaks are being harassed, expatriated and brutally murdered in front of their very eyes, even though all these expatriated Bosniaks were registers in OSCE and IPTF.

We request: Immediate investigation of events in Jajce, to find the people responsible and sanction them, to initiate extreme measures against certain individuals i.e. to relieve all local responsible individuals of their authority, to initiate a lawsuit against their commanders from the top of Croat authority. To reevaluate or dismiss entire HDZ list for the Municipal Elections, to identify all involved members of police and fire them, and to immediately start the process of return of all expatriated and all other Bosniaks to Jajce. Nevertheless, to rebuild all houses torched in past two days as well as houses torched since Croats entered Jajce and pay it from their budget."Finally, it is requested that representatives of the municipal authorities and Ministry of Refugees follow the returnees.
