French repairmen in Zenica

Zenica, 1 August, 1997(AIM)- Working 12 hours per day for two weeks, four experts and their "Association for support to B&H musicians" from Paris provided tremendous help to Musical school in Zenica. Although it is time of summer break, the school is unusually busy. The reason for this is group of French repairmen specialized for construction and repair of bow instruments. They transformed one lecture room into temporary and well-supplied workshop.

Their work is of immense value to musicians in Zenica, because our country does not have relevant experts for repair and maintenance of musical instruments.

Last year they went to Sarajevo and they repaired instruments in Musical Academy.

They funded their first stay in Bosnia themselves, through " Association for support to B&H musicians". Some funds were collected through organization of a concert in Paris. They also received small material support from UNESCO for the traveling expenses, residence and some spare part. No one of them was paid for their work.

Upon their return to France, they will try to organize funded education of a young man from Zenica, who after returning to Bosnia could further educatet others interested in this fine and useful profession.(end)
