Red Cross of 'Sarajevo' Canton

Sarajevo, 26 July, 1997 (AIM) - In cooperation of Red Cross 'Sarajevo' Canton, Deutsches Beratungs Buero fuer Rucekkehrfordernde Massnahmen (Germany) and Red Cross Germany, and in presence of Mr. Klaus Kinkel, German Foreign Minister, today in Sarajevo is established an Office for Information and Consultation of Refugees and Displaced Persons.

Mr. Muhamed Becarevic, Vice President Red Cross 'Sarajevo' Canton, informed that main goal of this Office is to inform refugees and displaced persons about all what they are interested in, and to help them in their return as much as it can.

Mr. Kinkel, in his short opening word, stated: "I have a great respect for the activities of the Red Cross all over the World, and specially for this Office in Sarajevo, which will help people to get back to the normal style of living in their own country".

There will be one Central Office in Sarajevo and nine Field Offices, all of them equipped with modern equipment, provided by donators. Offices would also take care of other kinds of aid, like food, shoes, hygiene and building materials and home care.(End)
