False alarm
One day before the end of Registration process
Bosanska Krupa, 30 June, 1997 (AIM) - In the Registration Center in Bosanska Otoka near Bosanska Krupa everything was normal until one day before the end of the Registration process. That day suddenly, the SFOR soldiers (Czech Bat.) appeared in office, asking everybody to leave the room. The reason was anonymous information about explosive device planted in the Registration Center. But, the officials continue with work, because, without translator, they couldn't understand what was the SFOR asking for.
Tomorrow, the Registration Center was transferred to the another place, as insisted by Mr. John Graham, Senior OSCE Official, who stated that this false alarm could not interfere normal functioning of the Center.
According to the last information (12 June, 1997) in this Canton there were 125.000 registered voters. Compared to the last election, that is 78% registered persons. Mr. Graham pointed out that, the registration process is not a simple one, and there were some problems, but all of them were solved urgently, thanks to the professional behavior of the persons engaged in registration process.(End)
