MEETING OF DEMOCRATIC ALTERNATIVE ORGANIZATIONS ABOUT B&H

AIM, Perrugia, May 27, 1995 ASSOCIAZIONE PER LA PACE (Association for Peace) and ARCI-NOVE (a cultural social organization of Italy) organized a Round Table in Perugia, from May 25 to 27, with the topic "Possibility of Establishing Stable Peace in Bosnia". Among other, Sejfudin Tokic, President of the Parliamentary Group of the Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina Social Democrats in the Assembly of B&H, and Milorad Dodik, President of the Group of Independent Deputies of the Parliament of territories controlled by Bosnian Serbs took part in the work of this gathering.

A high level of agreement was achieved in the discussions concerning resolving of the crisis in this part of Europe by political means, and a demand was stated for a more active engagement of democratic alternative organizations in the continuation of the peace process.

In the course of the meeting, special attention was devoted to projects for improvement of living conditions of citizens from the territory of B&H in the domain of social activities, public utilities and economy.

Participants of the Round Table had separate talks with Senator Giangiacomo Migone, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Senate; Piero Fassino, Foreign Policy Secretary of PDS and Secretary of Relations with Eastern Europe of the Socialistic International; Giovanni Bianchi, President of PPI (Italian National Party); Aldo de Matteo, Foreign Policy Secretary of PPI; Gianfranco Maddoli, Mayor of the city of Perugia; Mariano Borgognoni, President pf the Perugia Province; Claudio Carnieri, Prime Minister of the Umbria Region; and Marino Sereni, Minister in the Government of Umbria.
